Are you afraid of the dentist? As you probably know, many people suffer from similar concerns about visiting the dentist. In fact, nearly half of all Americans have some type of dental anxiety. Fortunately, there are a few things you can consider to help you deal with your anxiety. One option we recommend is dental sedation.
However, there are a few different levels of sedation you should know about. For example, you could consider conscious sedation. As you’ve probably guessed, with this type of sedation you’ll be able to respond to our dentists verbally and physically. However, you could also need minimal sedation. If this form of sedation is right for you, you will still be able to respond to our dentists, though your coordination will probably be impaired.
Fortunately, if these types of mild sedation aren’t enough for you, our team could decide to give you a stronger type of sedation. Depending on the strength of your sedation, you may still be able to respond to our team. However, you most likely won’t be able to respond to physical requests. However, please be aware that you could need even stronger sedation. With stronger sedation, you may find yourself in a deep sleep.
However, please note that not everyone is a good candidate for dental sedation. If you’re interested in sedation, we recommend speaking to our team. We will gladly answer any of the questions you may have. If you have any more questions, or would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. McMurray and Dr. Williams, please don’t hesitate to contact Legacy Smiles Family Dental at 208-888-3311 .
